Following several difficult months of abuse, hate crimes and physical damage which have put our family at risk, we have decided to step back from officially organising next year’s Haworth 1940s Weekend event for our own well-being.

A very small collective of hateful people have made it their mission to make our lives a misery.

Whilst we are a resilient team, and have a huge support network, we have had to weigh up whether this is truly worth continuing with in the long run. Therefore it’s with a heavy heart (not least the time and enormous amount of work we’ve already put in) that we are stepping back.

We’ve never experienced these issues in events in other cities, or countries - and we really hope there is a wake-up call to stop abuse and bullying - it will be to the detriment of the local economy and village life if not.

Though the positive learnings are that the unofficial 2024 event was put on by the local business community, without personal responsibility or attacks, and ran smoothly. This is a great demonstration of the community coming together - a movement we firmly support.

We will champion the events moving forwards, and are always excited to collaborate, but have handed the baton back to the business community to lead forwards from this point.
